Art Deco Shade
Ken Kelly of Vintage Hardware started business as an antique dealer in Edinburgh Scotland in 1968 and is now established in the historical Victorian town of Port Townsend, Washington. His years as an antique dealer have given an experienced touch and helped the current business of providing antique slip shade lighting and eart deco glass shade products to grow and have made the entire range of products some of the finest on the market. As well as offering reproduction art deco slip shade items for lamps and chandeliers and wall sconces, the Vintage Hardware factory faithfully reproduces antique hardware , lighting and architectural pieces from many eras and design motifs including Rococo, Victorian, Art Deco, Waterfall, Mission, Arts & Crafts, and Art Nouveau.
Vintage Hardware showrooms in Port Townsend have all functions under one roof. The Art Deco antique shade providers also offer a made-to-order service for contractors, antique dealers, museums and homeowners. Products from Vintage Hardware have been specially ordered for many movies and the facility is an approved vendor to the White House, having furnished them with Neo-Rococo fixtures during a rehab project. While visiting the Vintage Hardware showroom customers should not miss seeing the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum .
This free exhibit is the only American Art Deco slip shade museum in the world. No other art deco museum has committed the research or the specialization into American-made Art Deco shade and lighting as thoroughly as has Vintage Hardware. Some of the lights in the thirty year old collection are so rare that they have never been documented in any book on the subject.
Les Arts Decoratif, later known as Art Deco, included not only the geometric clean lines of Streamline Modern but also the floral designs see in Fleur de Lis, Devon and Medieval patterns. Vintage Hardware is noted for its commitment to the lighting of the Art Deco era and to the faithful reproduction of art deco slip shade pieces. Both the showroom and www.vintagehardware.com feature Vintage Hardware's top quality authenticated reproductions. Vintage Hardware also features a Genuine Antique Lighting section for refurbished original vintage and antique fixtures. Our Art Deco lighting museum provides provenance and the inspiration to provide customers with the best art deco shade and lighting has to offer.
For example, Vintage Hardware provides art deco glass shade model 0350G Late Art Deco Quality Shade is of a quality that takes three steps to produce. Customers will enjoy the authentic color - a warm cream - that is so flattering to every metal finish. The fine lines of this art deco shade are typical of Streamline and Art Deco designs. The art deco shade fits most old Art Deco fixtures 95% of the time. The 0100G art deco shade is an interesting shape and the small opal shade is 9" high by 8" fitter 4". Vintage Hardware offers the 0126G Lincoln two in one slip shade which was only used on the Lincoln Series 9000 line of Art Deco light fixtures in the 1930s. Since the original art deco shades were made in batches colors from each "run" and varied and it is unlikely that the Vintage Hardware reproductions will exactly match the customer's antique shades .
