Victorian Gas & Electric 8 Arm Chandelier (719-OGE-CH)

719-OGE-CH Gaslight Reproduction Victorian Gas & Electric 8 Arm Chandelier in Polished Brass

719-OGE-DK Victorian Gas & Electric 8 Arm Chandelier  in Antique Brass Patina

Replica of John W Call of Philadelphia, PA Circa 1890. Solid brass fixture, left unlacquered or a variety of antique finishes. During the turn of the century, when electricity supplies were first available but not reliable, companies made combination gas and electric light so that when the electricity failed, they could turn on the gas light.

Since gas always pointed up, & electricity pointed down (to get the most from meager electricity at the time), their shade differences are obvious. Gas is larger, with a 4" fitter size, while electric used a 2 1/4" fitter shade.

Choose from a polished, unlacquered brass which will age to a mellow gold over time, or our hand-finished "antique" patina, lacquered to maintain its color. Use the drop down menu to select.

Fixture uses (4) 4" fitter shades on the "up" gas fixtures, and (4) 2.25" fitter electric shades. Shades are sold separately. We picture 076G & 077G as a suggestion. We have many matching gas/electric shade options, and changing the shade can dress up the fixture, or simplify it.

Pictured here also are several fixtures to complement this chandelier. Try a delightful spun-brass double sconce such as 702-DGS-ES , also available with three lights. If you have a staircase, add light to the newel post with 311-NLW-MG . And for a small area such as entry or hall, try the 712-DGS-EP pendant. Just coordinate your glass shades for a unified, authentic effect.

30" - 45" H, spread 32" with shades shown.

Although the sockets are rated over 100 watts, we recommend 100 watts or less per UL standards for large chandeliers.
