801-AGS-NW Gaslight Reproduction Victorian Diana Figural Newel Post Light
Outstanding Giant Silicon Bronze "Americana" Newel Post Light
Our original antique sample was made by Mitchell-Vance, New York. This light is listed in the Mitchell Vance catalog of 1876 pg 46, Plate 216. The catalog has been reprinted by Dover if you'd like to take a peek. Note the lovely expression of her face, details of her necklace and sandals, and the billowing cape behind her. Not another authentic one being made anywhere - now you can have this estate-quality piece in your home or business.
What a gorgeous piece...weighing in at over 100 pounds of solid brass-bronze with an antique finish to match. Formerly gaslight, it's now wired...and UL approved....and capable of taking up to a 150 watt bulb. Originally a newel post light and could be again if you had the strong enough newel post for it.
The base has an 11" round diameter and has a removable subplate within it that screws down to the surface for permanent mounting. We have seen these used on top of furniture and on pedestals for accent lighting too.
Fixture uses 4" shade fitter. Shade sold separately. We have over two dozen 4" glass shades from which to choose.
These fixtures are designed to be wired in, and use a wall switch to turn on/off. On/off switch available on the base for an extra $25. If you would like to add the switch, select that part number from the drop down menu.
Metal only height is 55" to the bottom of the shade fitter. The overall height will be determined by which shade you choose.
Up to 150 watts incandescent socket.
