ANT-1131  American Art Deco 5 Light Chandelier by Lightolier

From the Art Deco period, two names for quality and design are well recognized by collectors:  Lightolier and Consolidated Glass. With this fixture, we have the best of these two companies.

From the Lightolier’s 1933 catalog, we have a lovely example of the “Stylux” model 2640 five shade chandelier. This model was top-of-the-line.

This chandelier houses some of the finest shades that Consolidated glass ever made. They simply are works of art.

Lightolier made this model both as a long drop with chain that could be lengthened, and as a lower drop for low ceiling applications. Here we have the long drop ceiling version. It was priced in the 1933 catalog, in the raging depression, at $12.75. In our catalog, that 1933 price is crossed out and $14.85 is written in pencil. And it was the depression!  

At the bottom of the page, in the catalog, Lightolier states in BOLD letters:  “Lightoliers reflect the good taste of their owners”.

The 1933 catalog reports this finish as “Antique Gold” and this is the original finish with this example. Naturally, the condition of the finish is commencerate with it’s age...but...hopefully the pictures will show that it is still pretty darn good considering it IS an antique. The 1933 catalog also states that the shades are “Goldentone”.

This Lightolier chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with 5 medium base sockets- -one for each of the slip shades. Each socket is capable of accepting a 100 watt bulb. So, this great chandelier has come from our UL shop totally ready to install and will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware.

Measurements:  26” tall by 18” wide.  It could be lengthened by adding more chain.
