Lovely pair of Circa 1920 wall sconces (ANT-272)

ANT-272  Lovely Pair of Circa 1920 Wall Sconces

Original antique backplates and original antique shades.  These sconces have a lovely Edwardian pewter look and a great design that is so typical of the Edwardian style.

The original antique shades are very nice.  A frosted center set off by two section of amber.  Being antiques, there is a place “or two” where there are very MINOR flakes to the shades where they fit into the holder (not seen).  It is normal 90 year wear & tear and so very minor, but we have to mention it.

The metal of the backplates is cast white metal with a lovely pewter finish.  Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice.

These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and all new wire.  We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the 20’s...and still made up to ONE year ago.  So these switches, by Leviton are becoming even more antique as we note this.

We suggest using our neat little LED bulb 45G-E26  (pictured below) if these sconces are for ambiance and less than full room light.  The little 2 watt LED bulb produces almost as much light as a 25 watt incandescent bulb but only nibbles at the electricity.  AND....it lasts 30,000 hours.   We suggest it to prevent a bulb peeking over the rim of the shade but we are showing it with a small incandescent bulb anyway.

Measurements:  The overall sconce height is 11 3/4”.  The maximum width (shade) is  5 3/4”.  It will project into the room 6” from the wall.
