ANT-457 Art Deco Odeon Movie Theatre Clamshell Motif Wall Sconces
A very neat shell motif set of the British theater sconces from England.
These sconces are often called "Odeon Sconces," since one of the main movie house chains in Britain named all their theaters "Odeon." Odeon is sometimes a synonymous term for a movie theatre in Britain. Saying "Let's go to the Odeon" is the same as saying "Let's go to the movies."
The Odeon sconces vary in style...most popular was the shell motif. These types of sconces were often used with frosted, amber, and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more. They vary in style...most popular was THIS shell motif. Our other pair of sconces came from the same home...and are slightly different, but the same in age and construction.
The frames of the sconces are solid brass, which have an antique finish.
The shades are a pleasant amber color, and lighted with TWO sockets for a more even distribution of light.
We have rewired these sconces to UL American standards with new American porcelain chandelier sockets in our UL shop. So, these are ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit, which we will supply.
Height: 8 ¾"
Projection: 3 5⁄8" from the wall into the room.
Uses candelabra size bulbs, either incandescent or LEDs (as shown in our picture). We do not supply the bulbs, but the LED bulb 35C-E12 is available for purchase on our website. It is only 1.6 watts, and presents itself as a fantastic look. Makes using these as night lights very inexpensive indeed.
Price: $550.00 for the pair with shades, plus shipping charges.
