ANT-588 Pair of Double Arm Wall Sconces Circa 1910-20
Lovely pair of circa 1920 wall sconces. Original antique backplates, and original antique shades. These sconces have a formal Edwardian ambiance with a pewter look, but a more restrained backplate design that is so typical of the Edwardian design style. Almost reminds you of an Art Nouveau...but not quite.
The metal of the backplates is cast iron, which has a lovely pewter finish.
Height: 10 ½"
Width: 10 ½" (maximum)
Projection: 4 ¾" from the wall into the room.
These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop with true bakelite sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, which were originally made by Leviton in the 20s, and still made up to three years ago. So these Leviton switches are becoming even more antique as we note this.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done, except add the light bulbs of your choice. We suggest using our neat little LED bulb if these sconces are more for ambiance, and less for full room light. This little 2 watt bulb produces almost as much light as a 25 watt incandescent bulb, but only nibbles at the electricity. AND...it lasts 30,000 hours. We suggest it to prevent a bulb peeking over the rim of the shade. Just a final, nicer touch.
$475.00 for the completely rewired, UL approved, double-arm pair of sconces...plus shipping.
