Art Deco 6 shade Chandeliers by Markel

A near identical pair of Antique Art Deco Slip Shade 6 shade Chandeliers by Markel. These lights, Circa 1935, were part of their "8800 series". These chandeliers were Model 8836 which was top of the line for this 8800 series. Their 1930s catalog says it has a spread of 20“.

Markel was one of the biggest companies working in the Great Depression and had locations in America and Canada and Austrailia. They made a lot of the antique slip shade fixtures that can be sometimes found in antique shops today and they were a quality company.

Red Bronze finish. The finish, while being cleaned up “a mite“, is original and simply beautiful to the max. You cannot find a much better antique red-bronze finish slip shade chandelier than these two chandeliers ...which...came from the same home...from the same long room....one at each end.

Wonderful condition. The shades are simply a treat and in remarkable condition. Probably made by Consolidated Glass or another quality glass house.

We re-wired this neat chandelier in our UL shop and it was simply neat to work with a nice chandeliers like these. One bottom shade does have a muted point, on the bottom shade, but hardly noticeable....and the color of the bottom shades do NOT exactly match the color of the side slip shades...but that is the normal state of Art Deco slip shade lighting.
