ANT-649 Art Deco 5 Shade Clam Shell Chandelier by Mid-West
Art Deco Mid-West Streamline design five-light chandelier, with great clam shell slip shades. From the 1930s.
Mid-West was an outstanding company that survived the Great Depression that took many companies out. They had a standard that they never lowered, and the resulting work shows just that.
They were clever, too. They used this clam shell shade for two totally different lines. The first line catered to the Victorian tastes, with curvilinear lines and motifs. The second line embraced the new Art Deco Streamline movement of which, this chandelier is a prime example of their Streamline series.
