This Vintage Hardware glass knob has an 8/32" threaded metal insert inside the knob.  The screw is not visible from the top of this knob, and there is no metal base showing.  A good choice when you want the most wood or cabinet to show.

These make impressive bathroom or kitchen cabinet knobs.

We're seeing designers use these as robe hooks, too!
