ANT-241 Antique Victorian Neo Rococo Chandelier C1880
Unusual antique Neo-Rococo 6 light French chandelier Circa 1880. The brass is the typical French acid finish ormulo look which was so popular during the Victorian era in France.
The chandelier is a plethora of motifs with the cupid center playing a mandolin, rams heads on the bowl and grotesque faces and dragon heads on arms and body. A very interesting story if you can put it all together. Add to this the crystals and we have a very French chandelier
Originally, this chandelier was made for candles. When we received it, it had a poor quality conversion to turn-of-the century electric. We redid the conversion using twisted old fashion rayon wire which can be seen in the pictures. We think it came out well. We also installed our handcut crystal shades which were typical of the early gas period having the scarce 2 5/8" fitter instead of the later 2 1/4" or 4". Normally during this period you could get gas chandeliers either as candle tubes or with shades. We took a lot of pictures of this nice light. We really wanted you to see how attractive it is and how well it was restored in our UL shop.
Measurements: The Chandelier height is 46" but it could be shortened or lengthened by chain manipulation. The diameter is 28" with the shades shown, which are included in the purchase price.
$ 2,250.00 for the NeoRococo French chandelier, complete with the shades shown.
