ANT-1028 Art Deco “Odeon” Sea Life Motif British Theatre Sconces

A very neat figural Sea Life motif set of the British theater sconces from England. These sconces are often called "Odeon Sconces" since one of the main movie house chains in Britain, named all their theaters "Odeon". These sconces vary in style...most popular was the shell motif while these a bit more unusual having a Very scarce and unusual Sea Life scene as the decor.

We have never had this design before. Must be considered scarce and truly unusual.

The sconces are mounted in Nickel Plated frames. The shades do have some minor scuffing from age and we took one picture to show you this condition commensurate with their age. The shades are a pleasant amber color.

“Odeon” ...is sometimes is a synonymous term for a movie theater in Britain. Saying “let’s go to the Odeon” ..is the same as saying, “let’s go to the movies”.

These types of sconces were often used with frosted, amber and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century and beyond. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over 3/4s of a century or more. We have rewired these sconces to UL American standards with new American medium base sockets in our UL shop.

So, these are ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit which we will supply.

Measurements:  6 1/2" tall with a width of also 10 1/2". Protrudes 4 1/2" into the room.
