ANT-1330  Pair of French Radical Deco Sconces (Refined for the US)

These are pretty radical Art Deco Sconces from the 1950’s or so. They are so unique that often they are called: “Brutalist Deco” or “Bully Deco” because the lines are so strong.

Here is a bit of history about the Brutalist Deco Movement:

Brutalism was a movement in modern architecture responsible for some of the most striking building designs of the twentieth century. But its achievements also proved shocking and controversial. Brutalism emerged after the Second World War but was rooted in the ideas of functionalism and monumental simplicity that had defined earlier architectural modernism, including the International Style.

The Brutalist movement has many devotees. As such, prices often go ballistically high and often, since many items come from Europe, they just cannot be easily installed in the US homes. These sconces fix both issues.

Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired, to American UL standards in our UL shop. Normal chandelier sockets for everyday chandelier base bulbs were installed. We believe that it is best lit with a tubular bulb and we will supply the first one for you. The sconces now mount with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. This has been added since it used to have European mounting, which did not match UL standards. All mounting hardware will be supplied.

Measurements: 11 1/2” tall and has a maximum width of 6 1/2”. Sconces project into a room, from the wall, at 4”.
