ANT-1458 Art Deco 5-Shade Clam Shell Chandelier by Mid-West
Art Deco Mid-West Streamline design five-shade Chandelier with great Clam Shell Shades from the 1930's.
Mid-West was an outstanding company that survived the depression that took many out. They had a standard that they never lowered and the resulting work shows just that. They were clever too. They used this “clam shell” shade for two totally different lines. The first line catered to the Victorian tastes with curvilinear lines and motifs. The second line embraced the new Art Deco Streamline movement of which, this chandelier is a prime example of their Streamline series. (Courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Lighting Museum.)
This fine light has a mixed metal finish of nickel metal contrasting with a very Dark Bronze finish and is, as the pictures do show, the original antique finish showing its neat age like a well worn Persian carpet. The original finish is mellow and reflects its age.
The shades are simply fantastic. No damage at all and have extremely rich colors. This light has a drop of 20 inches, but it could also be lengthened by adding a little extra chain. It has a diameter of 18 1/2 inches.
This chandelier was totally re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets and new lead wires.
Each slip shade socket can easily take a 100-watt bulb. We are also supplying the mounting bracket (crossbar) for this chandelier; so literally, you can hang this light ad have it working minutes after receiving it—a really nice light.
Price: $950.00 plus careful packing and shipping charges.
