ANT-1461 Art Deco 5-Shade Chandelier and Sconce Set by Estellite
Art Deco five-light chandelier with matching sconces was made by Estellite ca. 1936. Estellite was a very small company that hardly anyone knows about. They made some very unusual chandeliers and sconces, which confuse most dealers, but…we are fortunate to have their 1936 catalog.
There are a few scarce lights that come up, occasionally, on the market today, that were made by Estellite. Most dealers scratch their heads and misattribute them to one of the other big makers when they were really made by Estellite. Estellite created very interesting and different designed shades and allowed customers to customize their purchases with their stock parts.
This chandelier & sconces are from their 1900 Line. This set was considered “top of the line”. While the chandelier was stock numbered No. 1905...it was custom made with their 1600 stem. This stem is rather outrageous for deco style and we can see why it was specified. We continue to see that Estellite was more custom work oriented since we have seen these custom variations many times before. Not unusual since customers were allowed custom choices.
The chandelier and sconces are Cast iron frames with an outstanding bronze finish. The amber shades are in near pristine condition. A great matched set.
