ANT-817  Scarce 5-Light Red Bronze Finish Chandelier by Virden C. 1934

John C. Virden, of Cleveland, OH made this unusual chandelier in 1934 (appears in his catalog of the same year).  This chandelier was top of the line of the Kenilworth Line.  The variations in this line were considerable, but this light was at the top.

While the glass looks to be 10 separate pieces, it is actually five pieces of glass.  The amber and white are actually one piece of glass treated differently to give the two colors.  Virden extended the tail of a normal sized shade to form the extended bottom part of the shade that makes the bowl.  Very unusual and deceiving to the eye.  While there is minor roughness to these scarce shades, it is nothing of major concern and all due to their age and use.

The frames are cast iron, which are finely cast.  They have the original red bronze wash over them, which is in excellent near-mint condition.

Measurements:

  • Height:  26" overall.
  • Diameter:  18" maximum.

This Kenilworth chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and supply wire.

Price for the UL re-wired chandelier, complete with scarce shades:  $1,350.00 plus careful packing and shipping.
