Victorian Roaring Lion Backplate With Turnlatch - 18

ZLW-189TL  Antique Reproduction Pavia Pattern Door Plate with Turnlatch

VERY impressive!  This is a reproduction of the "Pavia" pattern roaring lion doorknob backplate by P.F. Corbin, which can be seen in their Circa 1900 catalog.  This impressive doorknob-only backplate has a design of double full-figured cherubs flanking a lion's head.  The design is very classical Roman.

This impressive interior doorknob & turnlatch backplate has a design of double full figured cherubs flanking a lion's head.  It is meant to be used as an interior door plate, with a doorknob on the bottom hole and a turnlatch on the top hole.  The turnlatch is used to engage the deadbolt on your choice of lock.

  • Height:  18"
  • Width:  4"
  • Measurement from the center of the turnlatch stem to the center of the doorknob receiver is 2 ½".
  • Doorknob receiver has an 1116" internal diameter.

The design is very classical Roman, which would look terrific in a French Revival, English Tudor, baroque, or Gothic style home as well.  Cast in solid brass using the lost wax method, the finish is "antiqued" and lacquered to preserve the tone.

Backplates are sold by "each".

On the exterior of the door, you could use the matching entry door plate, which has a hole for a cylinder lock.  Or, use on an interior door with our matching low knob doorplate and choice of turnlatch mortise lock for rooms that need a privacy function.

You can use our antique reproduction mortise lock for an entry door.

Of course, we offer the matching roaring lion doorknobs.
