Lovely Pair of Americana Slip Shade, Dark Red Bronze Finished Sconces (ANT-1199)

ANT-1199  Lovely Pair of Americana Slip Shade, Dark Red Bronze Finished Sconces

These sconces are beautifully cast by an unknown maker. The red bronze finish, over iron castings, is simply beautiful. The marvelous shades must have been made by Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co. who were the absolute best.

Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co of Corapolis, PA was one of America’s finest glass makers before and during the Great Depression. Unfortunately....Consolidated went bankrupt no less than three times during the Great Depression. They made outstanding consumer products i.e vases, bowls, etc. and the most outstanding shades and lighting. Their products were the absolute BEST quality America had to offer to the world. Naturally, their pricing was also representative of these excellent products.

An interesting note, about these sconces, is that they were created to compete against similar lighting made by Virden. Virden had similar sconces that are far more common than these lovely lights, AND, we think that this competitor is far superior to those Virden designs.

These fine sconces are circa between 1931 and 1936 and is elaborating fine designs from the French Exposition Des Arts Decoratifs...of 1925.

Overall Measurements: 9” tall by 6” wide and projects from the wall a mere 4 1/2”.

These sconces have been completely re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets to conform to UL guidelines. Each socket is capable of accepting a 100 watt bulb...but...we would recommend cooler-running LED bulbs to protect the now older, and finer, glass shades. Each sconce also has a rotary switch which is nearly identical to the original one supplied.

Price: Remarkable Art Deco sconces, UL re-wired are $950.00 for the pair....plus careful shipping.
